Heal With Care !
Medication Errors due to patient unawareness are a
significant healthcare challenge. These errors are
often caused by a lack of understanding about proper
medication use, potential side effects, and drug
interactions. Contributing factors include complex
treatment regimens, inadequate patient education,
poor communication, and health system limitations.
In India, medication errors are alarmingly prevalent,
with rates as high as 22.4% among inpatients and
11.4% among outpatients in tertiary hospitals, well
above the acceptable threshold of 3%. A study states
that 96.5% of patients experienced at least one
medication error, with an average of 3.5 errors per
patient.
To address this widespread issue, a
multifaceted approach is required.
